India is now more colorful

* 72 companies from Turkey participated in the STONEMART 2017 International Natural Stone Industry Fair in Jaipur, India between February 2-5, 2017.

* The removal of trade quotas in India, caused great diversity in the Indian natural stone market, which used to be dominated by a few big companies.

We are in The Stone Mart Fair, held in Jaipur, India, every two years…I can’t help saying that going to India, one of the leading countries in world natural stone sector, was one of my biggest dreams The removal of trade quotas in India has made it an even more promising destination for natural stone trade. We gathered with the participant Turkish Companies in Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport before going to India for STONEMART 2017 International Natural Stone Industry Fair national participation, which was organized by TGExpo Fair Organization Company. The airplane belonging to Corendon Airlines, which was rented by TG Expo, was scheduled to take off at 09:00 am on Tuesday, January 31, could fly at 18:00 on the same day with a serious delay. This 6-7 hours delay caused the companies waiting at the airport feel stressed. Fortunately and finally, we were ready to fly to India with excitement, curiosity and great hopes.

The StoneMart Fair, being held every two years in India, which is one of the largest economies of the world with a population exceeding one billion, has been very active this year compared to other years. It is believed that the removal of the quotas applied in marble and natural stone import plays a major role in this growth. Companies that are prepared to switch from other sectors to marble sector with the removal of quotas, visited the fair and received information from the companies about the sector, where the dominance of Turkish companies felt seriously. Representatives of the sector, who also expressed intense demand for slabs, claimed that there will be good things in India over the next few years.One of the biggest complaints of the companies, which performed fruitful negotiations in the fair, was the inadequate service of TG Expo. The problem that started with a delayed flight continued with the inadequacy of services at the fair area. The most frequently complained topic was the lack of internet connection, the bad quality of tables and chairs in the booths and hot-beverage services. Some companies have also said they believe that such problems can be at every fair, and that if TG Expo, organizer of many domestic and international participation organizations in Turkey and in many parts of the world,  considers the criticism of participants, they can be much more successful at subsequent fairs.

Professional visitors

Jaipur international exhibition center hosted high number of visitors during the 4 days of the fair. Participants of the fair stated that the majority of the visitors were professional and they have established long lasting collaborations. Apart from Turkish companies, there were mainly granite and marble machinery producer companies in the fair.  India, which is considered as one of the most important marble markets of the future, used to be considered to be a week alternative to China. However along with the removal of trade quotas and the occurrence of new companies in the sector, a significant revival in the market is being felt.

Buyers from all over the world

Especially the second and the third days of the fair were very busy. There were professional buyers from Yemen, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, China, Slovakia, Russia, Omar and Central America along with the Indian purchasers.

Efficient distribution of Turkish Stone World Magazine

The India special issue of Turkish Stone World Magazine, which was printed in Jaipur, received high attention of the visitors and participants of the fair. The special issue of Turkish Stone World Magazine was effectively distributed by our team to all participants and visitors.
