Mekas Kablo, one of Turkey’s leading companies in the weak current cable sector, is a brand that has proven itself both domestically and internationally with its quality production approach and customer-oriented solutions. Started in 2009 in Istanbul/Sancaktepe, the company is today a strong player exporting to more than 50 countries. We talked to Ahmet Şamil Onur, Domestic Sales Manager / Sales and Marketing Coordinator, about the vision behind Mekas Kablo’s success, investments and innovations offered to the sector.
Can you tell us about Mekas Kablo’s position in the sector and its establishment process?
Mekas Kablo started production in Istanbul/Sancaktepe in 2009. In a short time, with its quality, innovation and customer-oriented approach, it has gained a solid place in the sector and has become a reliable brand in Turkey and exports. Thanks to our increasing production capacity and expanding product range, we continued our investments and moved our production to our 13,000 m² modern facility in Kocaeli/Dilovası in 2021. Today, we have a strong domestic distribution network with more than 500 dealers and we have proven ourselves in the global market by exporting to more than 50 countries. It has achieved a significant success by ranking 38th among “Turkey’s Fastest Growing Companies” by TOBB.
What are the factors that make Mekas Kablo different in the sector?
Our quality-oriented production approach, our ability to offer fast and flexible solutions to customer demands, our strong export network and our innovative R&D studies are the main elements that make us different in the sector.
Can you give information about your customer-oriented solutions?
Our greatest strength is our ability to respond quickly to customer demands with our expert field sales team and sales support unit. We can offer custom-made cable solutions, and when necessary, we can analyze the needs of our customers and end-users on site by conducting field visits with our sales, production, R&D and quality teams and offer the most appropriate solutions.
What is your export strategy?
As of today, we export to more than 50 countries and generate 50% of our turnover from exports. Being present in international markets with our own brand is an indicator of the importance we attach to quality and trust. By regularly participating in the world’s most prestigious fairs, we strengthen our relationships with our existing business partners and seize opportunities to expand into new markets. Our goal is to increase our strength in exports and make Mekas Kablo one of the most reliable weak current cable brands worldwide.
Can you give information about your wide product range?
We set out with the aim of reducing foreign dependence in the field of weak current cables and being a pioneer in the sector. Today, we have a wide range of products from the defense industry to the machinery industry, from the communication sector to electric vehicle charging cables. With more than 10,000 product types, we offer customer and quality-oriented service.
Which areas do you focus on in your R&D and innovation activities?
Our R&D team focuses not only on developing new products but also on improving production processes, machinery investments and market analysis. We are constantly working on improvements to increase our production efficiency and further improve quality. At the same time, we analyze the needs of the sector and determine which new product groups to invest in.
Can you give information about your quality standards and testing processes?
It is one of the main priorities of Mekas Kablo. Our production processes are carried out in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certificates. We perform mechanical, chemical and electrical performance tests of each production batch in our test laboratory. Our products are manufactured in accordance with international standards such as EN 50620, IEC 62893, CPR and have TSE, CE, TUV Rheinland, TUV Austria and EAC certificates.
Do you have solutions for marble and mining sectors?
Yes, we offer high quality PUR (Polyurethane) cables especially for the marble and mining industries. While traditional TTR cables have a lifespan of one season, our PUR cables reduce the frequency of cable replacement and increase operational efficiency thanks to their superior durability. With chemical, mechanical and environmental resistance, they are perfectly adapted to harsh working conditions. Today, PUR cables have become an important product in marble quarries and mining sites as they provide cost advantage.
Finally, what are the future goals of Mekas Kablo?
As Mekas Kablo, we aim to increase our production capacity, expand to new markets and expand our innovative product portfolio in the coming years. Our future goals are as follows:
– We will establish a stronger dealer network in the European market and increase the awareness of our brand.
– We will increase the share of products for growing sectors such as electric vehicle charging cables and moving media cables.
– By investing in R&D and testing laboratories, we aim to have a say in product groups that meet the needs of the sector.
– We will further strengthen our sales and distribution network by expanding our dealership network across Turkey.
– By making investments in environmentally friendly and sustainable production techniques, we will contribute to the world for a more sustainable future by reducing our carbon footprint.
