“All began this way: from a block of marble, experience and hard work, but it is the passion that make the difference.”

Drawing strength from Chiampo’s deep-rooted tradition of stonemasonry, Serafini treats marble not just as a material but as a form of artistic expression. Skillfully combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, the brand redefines aesthetics and functionality with every piece. We spoke to Alessandro Serafini, founder of Serafini, about the brand’s roots, its approach to design and the future role of marble.

Can you tell us the history of the foundation of Serafini and its current vision, considering the deep tradition of stoneworking in Chiampo?

Serafini was born out of a passion for working with natural stone in Chiampo (Vicenza), a region with a long-standing tradition in the field. Founded by the Serafini brothers, the company has successfully combined craftsmanship and innovation, evolving from a local reality into a leading brand in luxury marble design. Today, its vision is to reinterpret stone in a contemporary way, creating customized solutions for interiors and furniture pieces while maintaining a strong connection to its artisanal roots.

What does the concept of “Made in Italy” mean to you, and how do you reflect this philosophy in your products?

For us, the concept of “Made in Italy” represents a perfect balance between tradition, innovation, and uncompromising quality. It is synonymous with craftsmanship excellence, attention to detail, and the ability to transform precious materials into unique design pieces.
At Serafini, we reflect this philosophy at every stage of production:

  • Careful material selection, choosing only the best natural stones to ensure beauty and durability over time.
  • Artisanal craftsmanship, combining knowledge passed down through generations with cutting-edge technology to achieve highly precise results.
  • Exclusive design, born from collaborations with architects and designers to create unique, customized products that enhance any environment.
Each of our pieces is the result of a process where passion, creativity, and attention to detail come together, making every creation a true expression of Italian luxury and quality.

What types of marble and stone varieties stand out in your collection? What are your most requested products?

Our collection is born from a love for the natural beauty of marble and stone, which is why we carefully select only the finest and most sought-after varieties. Among the materials that stand out for their elegance and uniqueness, we have Travertine in various types, a timeless material appreciated for its warm tones and natural texture. Another key material in our creations is Port Saint Laurent, a sophisticated and refined marble with a dark background and golden veins that add a touch of luxury to any space. Finally, Calacatta Macchia Vecchia, known for its extraordinary golden and amber veins set against a pure white background, is perfect for those seeking a dramatic and timeless material.
Among our most requested products are freestanding and countertop sinks, sculpted with great care to combine functionality and aesthetic perfection. Marble tables and consoles are also highly appreciated, real design elements that add character and refinement to any space. Each creation we make is designed with the utmost attention to detail to guarantee not only superior quality but also durability, maintaining the charm and elegance of marble over time.

What are the key elements that distinguish Serafini from other marble producers?

There are several key elements that distinguish Serafini from other marble producers. First, our focus on quality and material selection is a fundamental aspect. We choose only the finest natural stones and work them using innovative techniques that respect the artisanal traditions of our hometown, Chiampo, a region known for its long experience in marble craftsmanship.
Another aspect that sets us apart is our ability to customize each project, creating tailor-made solutions that meet the specific needs of our clients. Whether it’s a freestanding sink, a marble table, or a furniture piece, each item is crafted with such attention to detail that it becomes one-of-a-kind.
Collaboration with designers and architects is another distinguishing feature: we work side by side with design experts to create exclusive products that combine aesthetics, functionality, and innovation.
Finally, our sustainability philosophy plays an important role. We are committed to minimizing the environmental impact of our production processes by using advanced technologies to optimize material use and reduce waste.
All these elements, combined with our passion for marble and our ability to create unique works, make Serafini a truly special reality in the natural stone design landscape.

Your products are not only functional but also carry an artistic identity. How do you transform marble into a work of art?

For us, each marble piece is a canvas on which we transform the material into something more than just a functional object. The transformation of marble into a work of art is the result of a delicate balance between tradition, innovation, and design.
Our vision starts with respecting the stone: every block of marble has its own story and unique characteristics, from the veins to the color, which we aim to enhance rather than hide. With a combination of artisanal skill and modern technologies, we sculpt the marble to create elegant, yet functional forms that can transform any space.
Each creation we make, whether it’s a freestanding sink or a marble table, is conceived as a unique, personalized, and tailor-made piece. We collaborate with designers who understand our approach, to create objects that not only fulfill a practical need but also become expressions of beauty and sophistication.
In this way, marble is not just a durable and precious material, but a true form of art, capable of evoking emotions in those who view it. Every product we make carries an identity that goes beyond functionality: it is a testimony of aesthetics, passion, and mastery.

Among your collaborations with artists and design studios, which project has impressed you the most?

Every project we undertake is special to us because it offers the opportunity to create something new and unique. Collaborating with various artists and design studios allows us to explore new expressive possibilities and push the boundaries of marble, transforming it from just a precious material into a canvas for experimentation and innovation.
One aspect that enriches us immensely is the opportunity to work with international designers, who bring fresh perspectives and new visions. Thanks to these collaborations, we can adapt our expertise and tradition to the needs and trends of global markets, creating pieces that combine the elegance of marble with modern, international design. Every project is an opportunity to grow, learn, and enrich our creative repertoire, offering unique and personalized solutions that speak a universal language.

Which pieces in your collection can be considered the most iconic?

At the moment, there are no pieces that we can define as “icons” of our collection, as every creation is unique and designed to meet the diverse needs of our clients. However, we invite you to discover our entire collection and find your favorite piece by visiting our gallery in Milan, at Corso Porta Romana 7, just a few steps from the Duomo. Here, you can see our products up close, feel the quality of the marble, and be inspired by the endless possibilities that our design can offer.

How did you decide to expand into different product categories, from sinks to wall cladding?

Our decision to expand into different product categories, from sinks to wall cladding, came primarily from the increasing requests from our customers. Over time, we realized there was a growing demand for marble solutions for other environments and functions. To meet these needs and offer a complete range of natural stone products, we expanded our offerings while maintaining the same focus on quality, design, and customization.

What could be the new areas where marble will see greater use in the future?

In the future, marble will find greater use in timeless design objects, such as lamps, vases, and decorative elements, that combine functionality and aesthetics. The increasingly advanced working techniques will also allow for the exploration of new applications in innovative sectors, creating pieces that last over time and maintain their charm.

Does Serafini have any plans for new collections or revolutionary innovations in the near future?

Yes, we have plans for new collections and some revolutionary innovations in the near future. During the Milano Design Week, we invite you to visit our gallery at Corso Porta Romana 7, where you will be able to admire all of our new creations and discover the latest evolutions in our marble design.
