THE MAN WHO WHISPERS TO THE STONES ISMAIL VURAL
Stella Unica, a unique stone from the Muğla region of Turkey, offers a sense of both simplicity and complexity with its similarity to the cosmos and the meaning of depth it gives.
Hello, as of this issue, we are starting a new column in our magazine. I will present you with unique stones and stories in every case. The highlight of this issue: Stella Unica.
The spaces we live in, our way of life, are our shelter from the problems we face in the world. Our safe comfort zone where we can soothe our souls. Unfortunately, today’s world is plagued by the COVID-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, political tensions in many regions and other disasters, climate change, etc. Global events have made many people feel anxious and uncertain. We seek safe havens to find hope and peace in an increasingly chaotic world. While the world drifts into chaos, our soul seeks the simpler and plainer. Our imagination becomes even more colorful and diverse, as the clouds get darker. We are evolving towards a process in which people are imprisoned in their imagination. It will be difficult for the design to be perceived independently of this fashion process. What kind of reflection do we expect on design and taste?
There is a search for peace. Tranquility favors some simplicity. However, there is also chaos in the world. Concepts where these two are blended are candidates for trend. Think of it as a blending of reality and imagination. In addition, people will be intuitive to seek more freedom and depth/width in spaces confined to closed areas because a two-dimensional visual will further fuel the feeling of being stuck in people. Especially the fact that humanity, infused with all this pessimism, sets its eyes on space as a hope, cares more about the sky, and imposes the search for other planets to live on, isn’t this a symbol of shrinkage and escape? Space may come to our agenda more in the coming period, and it may be reflected in these designs.
When you meet someone new, sometimes there is a positive feeling you know from somewhere. Stella Unica is a stone from Muğla region of Turkey that you get that familiar feeling but is unique. It got its name from its resemblance to the surface of a photo frame from space, which it gives with its three-dimensional patch structure consisting of black, navy blue, gray and brown tones. The stone has a chaotic structure with both simplicity and complexity.
Although the stone has a dark background in its tone, a white surface appears when the acid surface treatment is applied, perhaps the reflection of the darkness and light on the stone, which the person harbors at the same time, whichever you want to make visible, the choice seems to be yours… This makes Stella Unica a fascinating and versatile stone that can be used in various applications.
Stella Unica is an excellent choice for people seeking peace of mind. Peace means simplicity. However, we also live in chaos. For this reason, it will not be surprising to see clarity and confusion blended into designs. Stella Unica reflects this duality perfectly.
Stella Unica is also ideal for people seeking freedom with its 3D pattern structure. It can provide depth and expansion in spaces. The more we look at the sky, the more area enters our agenda, and the popularity of Stella Unica and similar stones increases with their reflection in the designs because such stones adapt to this concept with their cosmic appearance.
Another attractive aspect of the stone is that it contains a different surprise and can carry people to an extra dimension. Currently, there is only one selection available. Another selection will be added in the coming period, where gold vein patterns will be seen according to the cores.
Today, to compete with ceramics, the sizes of marble slabs are getting bigger and bigger. Jumbo size has started to increase. The quarry also has an advantage in this respect. Blocks can be produced according to jumbo plate dimensions.
Although it is thought that the stone can be used in larger areas, it can be used in any place where marble is used, depending on the surface finish. As a surface, my favorite applications are deep leather and acid. Polished and honed looks good too. With effective marketing in the coming period, it will reach customer potential in many different countries. Hope to see you in the next issue…
