İstanbul Mineral Exporters Association (İMİB) awarded the top 10 exporter companies in block and processed natural stone categories in 2018 Aydın Dinçer, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of İMİB, who delivered a speech at İMİB Natural Stone Sector Export Award Ceremony claimed that the sector has achieved 4.6 billion dollars worth of exports in 2018.
İMİB Natural Stone Sector Export Awards Ceremony, organized by Istanbul Mineral Exporters Association, was held in Izmir Hilton Hotel. The opening ceremony, where the representatives of Mineral and Petrol Works General Directorate, Export General Directorate, Forest General Directorate were present, started with the speech of Aydın Dinçer, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of İMİB.
”We will pay sectoral trade delegation visits to countries across the world”
Aydın Dinçer said: “Half of the export revenue we acquired in 2018 comes from the natural stone sector. If we say that natural stone is the engine of our mining exports, we are not mistaken. In fact, as we all know, the product we call natural stone, is a building material, an architectural object. We are bringing out a mineral that allows the architects to present their projects much better. We are very excited to see such precious minerals in projects. Looking at the subject export-oriented, as İMİB and all other unions, we carry out important activities in the field of marketing. We carry out sectoral trade committees in order to reach new markets by protecting our existing markets. So far, we paid delegation visits to China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, USA, UK, Canada, Nigeria, and South Africa. We are planning to pay sectoral delegation visits to almost all countries in the world. We know that; production is necessary for export and , incentives are essential for production. In order to achieve the targets of 2023, we must work hard in 2019 and in the years to come.”
Trade Battle Can Be Turned into Opportunity
Uğur Salih Uçar, Assistant General Manager of Mining and Oil Affairs, also stated that trade wars between China and the USA could be turned into an opportunity and thanked to the exporters who did not hesitate to put all their effords for a stronger economy.IMIB presented awards to the top 10 natural stone and block natural stone exporter companies of the Natural Stone Sector in 2018.
