In our country, where the world’s richest marble deposits are located, Bursa hosted the seventh International Block Marble Fair. The fair brought the natural stone sector together at Tüyap Bursa International Fair and Congress Center. 185 companies and company representatives participated in 7 different halls and open exhibition areas. Bursa 7th International Block Marble Fair, which stands out as the brand event of the natural stone sector, continues to be the only specialized fair in the sector. The fair strengthened the exports and competitiveness of the natural stone sector with the business volume it created. On Wednesday, October 25th, the fair hosted visitors from over 60 countries at Tüyap Bursa International Fair and Congress Center, where 2,200 blocks of marble awaited their buyers. As in previous years, this major event enabled many foreign trade connections this year as well. Bursa hosted 20,926 industry professionals and exhibitors from all over the world.
Evaluations from the sector
İlhan Ersözlü, General Manager of TÜYAP Fairs Productions Inc., stated that Bursa 7th International Block Marble Fair has shaped the domestic and international trade volume and said, “Our country, which is the world leader in marble reserves, is in an important position with its natural stone exports. Turkey has enough rich marble reserves to meet the demands of all the countries of the world for 80 years. Bursa stands out with the number of marble quarries and its proximity to the port. This fair continues to provide an important added value to the country’s economy.”
MADSİAD President Erol Efendioğlu said that 185 block producer companies participated in the fair and more than 2,000 blocks were exhibited. Stating that there were over 50 thousand tons of material in the fair, he said, “Our marble production capacity is high, we need foreign currency. We will make good use of the next 5-6 years and make Bursa the center of the world marble trade. We expect more visitors next year,” he added.
Rüstem Çetinkaya, Chairman of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) Mining Sector Board and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Istanbul Mineral Exporters’ Association (İMİB), emphasized the high added value of the sector and stated that the block marble fair will make great contributions to the development of the sector. Stating that in 2022, they realized an export of 6.5 billion dollars, Çetinkaya stated that this figure will decrease to approximately 5.5 billion dollars this year due to global developments.
Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş also stated that he believes that the fair will be an important activity for the city and the country’s economy in difficult times. He thanked those who contributed.
Bursa Governor Mahmut Demirtaş emphasized that the Block Marble Fair is of international nature and stated that Turkey is an important event in which business people from 60 countries from four continents participate. He pointed out that Turkey has approximately 30% of the 15 billion cubic meters of marble reserves.
The event, which took place at TÜYAP Bursa International Fair and Congress Center, became an important international meeting point for the Turkish marble industry. With this event, Turkey proved its active role in the sector once again and stood out as the fifth largest marble producer in the world.
