The Aegean Mineral Exporters’ Association, which brings the mines, which are the underground riches of Turkey, to the economy and brings 1.2 billion dollars of foreign currency to Turkey in 2022 with their value-added exports, awarded 10 members who made 30 percent of its exports.
At the “EMIB Stars of Export Award Ceremony” held at the Gala Night of the 5th Our Life is Our Mineral Workshop held in Afyonkarahisar, the capital of marble, on November 9, the Aegean Mineral Exporters’ Association honored 5 of its members with the highest exports in the natural stone and non-natural stone mines sectors.
Speaking at the award ceremony, İbrahim Alimoğlu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Aegean Mineral Exporters’ Association, noted that they exported 1.2 billion dollars in 2022, and that the 10 companies that received awards made 357 million dollars of this export.
Natural stone sector became the flagship of exports
Sharing the information that the natural stone sector is the flagship of the exports of the Aegean Mineral Exporters’ Association with 767 million dollars, Alimoğlu said, “The exports of our mines other than natural stone amounted to 433 million dollars. We are awarding the stars of our Aegean mining exports in two different categories. In order to bring more foreign currency to Turkey, we are organizing Turkey’s National Participation Organization for the Xiamen Natural Stone and Technologies Fair in China. We increase the export competencies of our companies by clustering with our URGE Project. With the AMORF Design Competition, we are building a bridge between architects and designers and our industry and preparing the ground for value-added product exports. In 2024, we will organize Turkey’s National Participation in the KOREA BUILD WEEK (KINTEX) Fair in South Korea for the first time. We are organizing many trade delegations. The Turkish mining sector has set an export target of 10 billion dollars for 2028. We want to contribute 2 billion dollars to this target.”
