Seven Turkish Natural Stone Companies Exhibited in Nurnberg Stone + Tech Fair…
12 thousand visitors visited the Nurnberg Stone + Tech Fair while 338 participants from 28 countries participated in the exhibition that was reorganized after 3 years. Producers of processing machines capable of CNC and Water jet applications were in majority at the show.
During the show, stand designs in the form of parks and gardens displayed the use of natural stones on open spaces. As well as in every Nurnberg Fair, the use of natural stone as tombstone was the main concept of the exhibition.
Nurnberg Stone + Tech Fair, which used to be a significant show for natural stone sector in the 90’s, endeavors to regain its popularity which was lost since the early years of the year 2000.”
Despite the entire struggle, the decrease in interest for natural stone fairs around the world is affecting most of the fairs that has been loosing value such as the sectoral fairs like Marmotec in Carrara, Italy, Piedra in Madrid, Spain, and Stone-Tech in Nurnberg, Germany.
Blood Loss Had Started with Limitations in National Participation Organizations
Turkish National Participation Organization to Nurnberg Stone + Tech Fair, which used to be organized by the Aegean Exporters Unions in the 90’s, continued until the mid-2000s. However, the fair became one of the first trade fairs to withdrawn from the sector due to the global crisis.
To be honest, the reason of Turkey’s withdrawal from the Stone + Tech Fair in Nurnberg was the lack of interest against marble and travertine. The preferred natural stone in Germany was limestone, granite and basalt products named Jura, which was produced in their own country. Granite and basalt products were used especially in outdoor applications, especially in grave stone architecture, when the Jura stone was used in floor coverings.
Germany, which consolidated its industrial revolution process with enormous success after the Second World War and became a leading actor in the world trade with its global brands, chose to repair and keep the values of the past alive in the post-war period. At this stage, especially in the cities that are far away from industrial zones, demand for marble and travertine was not in question. In addition, the Germans’ interest in natural stone was limited to open spaces. Because as they live in a cold climate region they mostly prefer industrial building materials considering the insulation factors in their houses.
