Turkey’s rising trade product natural stone will beautify the buildings in Australia. Turkish natural stone, ranked second in the Australian market after China, aims higher.
A delegation of 10 companies, which was organized by the Aegean Mineral Exporters’ Association (EMİB) under the auspices of the Ministry of Commerce within the “Promotion of Design Oriented Exports in Processed Natural Stone Sector” Project, visited Melbourne and Sydney cities of Australia between August 3-11 and contributed to “Australia Overseas Marketing Activities” of Turkey.
Australia has a strategic priority for the sector
Mevlüt Kaya, the Chairman of the Board of Aegean Mining Exporters Association, pointing out that Australia is one of the most important countries, where design and architecture leads the construction sector. He noted that Turkish processed natural stone exporters have chosen Australia as a priority target market for their processed natural stone products.
92 % of our natural stone exports to Australia are processed products
EMİB President Kaya said that, the second step of Turkish natural stone companies that had paid a business and exploration visit to England between 23-27 January 2018 was Australia within the scope of “Design Oriented Export Promotion URGE Project”.
Kaya said: “Turkey’s natural stone exports to Australia in 2017 are worth 36 million dollars. In the Australian market, we would like to reach export figure of $ 100 million in a short period. We are the second natural stone provider in Australian stone market after China. 92 percent of our natural stone exports to Australia are processed value added products. Because of the high cost of labor in Australia, we can further increase our processed exports to this market. Our goal is to surpass China and Australia to become the first country in natural stone exports to Australia. ”
The second country with the highest standard of living in the world
* According to the OECD index of living standards, Australia is the second country with highest living standards in the world, following Norway. In Australia, which is a high potential market for the Turkish natural stone sector, per capita income is around $ 50,000.
* Australia imported 219 million dollars worth natural stone in 2017. The leading natural stone exporter in the Australian market is China with 104 million dollars worth natural stone, while; Turkey is the second country with 36 million dollars worth natural stone. Turkey is followed by Italy with 31 million dollars. Australia, ranks 9th among the countries that import natural stone from Turkey.
