Turkish natural stone sector, which had achieved 515 million dollars worth of natural stone export to US Market before the Mortgage Crisis, stepped into action for higher success.
Mevlüt Kaya, Chairman of the Board of Aegean Mineral Exporters Association (EMİB), who stated
that the United States is still the biggest export market after China, mentioned about the Sectoral
Trade Delegation held between 8-13 April 2019, with the participation of 15 natural stone exporter
companies.
Great opportunity in terms of Turkish natural stone industry
Kaya said: “Thanks to the Sectoral Trade Delegation, we have been informed of the latest trends in
US natural stone market. Following the additional taxes applied to China by the States, Turkish
natural stone has become more on demand here. US President Trump has recently announced that
the current tax rate of 10 % will be increased up to 25 percent in the coming period. A such
development would create greater opportunities for Turkish natural stone industry. Thanks to the
Sectoral Trade Delegation, 15 of our companies had the chance to measure their competitiveness
and caught a clue about the market trends via 300 business meetings held with their American
counterparts.”
Trade Delegation Organizations will be held to the US in 2019
EMİB President Kaya: “The value of annual natural stone export by United States is 3.5 billion
Dollars. Although the worth of Turkey’s natural stone exports to U.S.A. was 515 million dollars in
2017, this same figure was only 381 million dollars in 2018 Our trade goal in medium term is 1
billion dollars. In order to strengthen our position in the US market, we organize a sectoral trade
delegation in 2019
